The 3-mile CROP Hunger Walk, starting at First Church of Lombard, 220 S. Main St., will be held along the Prairie Path and Great Western Trail in Lombard with registration between 12:30 and 1 p.m.
This year’s walk will honor longtime walker and member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Terry Witt, who passed away earlier this year.
When walkers get back they will help pack 100 hygiene kits that will be donated to Church World Service to use in disaster areas across the country. There will also be a raffle for walkers.
Last year the walk raised $27,000 and the goal is to meet or exceed that this year. Seventy-five percent of the money raised goes to Church World Service for international and domestic hunger relief projects and 25 percent stays local to benefit the United Community Concerns Association, Elmhurst; the Community Table, First Church of Lombard UCC; Disciples Food Pantry, Villa Park; Food for The Soul, Addison; and The Outreach House, Lombard.
